Polymer DMT is the label for cooperative dance and performance projects by the German-Taiwanese choreographer Fang Yun Lo.
Polymer DMT combines and integrates different art forms, and works with artists from different backgrounds.
Polymer DMT was established in 2011 and is based in Essen and Dresden (DE) and Taichung (TW).
Fang Yun Lo is associated with the service program iDAS NRW, and a member of the scene associations IG Tanz Essen (founding member) and Tanznetz Dresden. In the year 2020, Polymer DMT received a basic conceptual funding and from 2021-23 the top-level funding for dance (Spitzenförderung Tanz) from the german state of North Rhine-Westphalia.

"Our stage works are interdisciplinary, we oscillate between dance, performance, documentary theatre and media art. The form and team composition is determined individually for each project, but there are a number of long-lasting collaborations.

One basic element of our work is the examination of intercultural themes, which is also reflected in our co-operation between Taiwan and Germany. For me, my own cultural identity is very important, but not at all consistent. For me, identity is above all a process, a technique, an eternal movement and questioning. We all live with items and stories from all over the world, and more and more people will have mixed cultural roots, not only in Germany and Europe. I see this as a huge gift.

In our work we try to use these cultural transfer techniques and transform them into our own aesthetics, as well as to actively involve the audience in this process.
Our pieces are created on the basis of long research, and are shown internationally by our partners. The encounters that emerge in the course of research are just as important to us as the individual performances. In conversations and exchange forums we try to share our questions and concerns with other people, take up new ideas and become active together.
